Good morning,
Unfortunately, we have had to close school today (6.1.25), in order to safeguard children and staff. I appreciate that this can be very frustrating if there doesn’t appear to be an awful lot of snow on the ground around school and the local area. When making these types of decisions, I have to consider the safety of everyone, and the risk of people slipping, falling, and becoming injured due to snow or ice. We can work hard to ensure that the playground and paths around school are safe (Mr Norris has been doing this since 5:30am this morning), however we aren’t able to control the paths and roads around school or the wider area. A lot of our staff also travel from various places around South and West Yorkshire, where travelling can be more difficult, and also have children, who’s own school closures impact on their ability to get into work. All of these reasons are taken into consideration when deciding whether or not we can open school safely. Unfortunately today, we are unable to open safely which is why I have taken the decision to close. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to families now having to arrange childcare. Please try and enjoy an extra day off, or some fun in the remaining snow if you are able to.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
Miss Webb
