We made our topic come alive by visiting the family farm of Cannon Hall in Barnsley.

The children had a guided tour from an experienced farmer who told them everything they needed to know about life on the farm. They met lots of animals and had the opportunity to feed them too. Following their time with the animals the children boarded a trailer for a tractor ride around the farm.

As well as meeting typical farm animals, the children also watched a meerkat talk and visited the curious critters in the reptile house. Here they saw leaf cutting ants, cockroaches, chameleons, iguanas and snakes.

We enjoyed our packed lunches in our private dining room where we had the opportunity to talk about our day and the things we had seen so far.

At the end of our day the children had some free time to develop their physical skills in the park and tunnels too.
