As I’m sure you have heard or seen on the news, there has been a recent rise in the UK of cases of children with Strep A. It is a bacteria sometimes found in the throat or on the skin, which can cause other, more serious illnesses. We have, as yet, had no reported cases in school. The school is cleaned daily, and the children are encouraged to wash their hands throughout the day – this will certainly be reinforced in the time leading up to the Christmas break.

Typically at this time of year, there are numerous viruses and illnesses circulating, but we would urge you to take your child to see a doctor should they have the following symptoms:

  • sore throat
  • high temperature
  • muscle aches
  • skin rash
  • swollen glands

We also advise they stay off school whilst they are unwell.
