This week we have been using our bear caves and filling them with the correct number of bears. This can be really tricky as the children have to count carefully as they take each bear from the basket.
Have a go at home. You can use Lego, bricks, pens, buttons, cereal and even chocolate biscuits.you can start off by asking them to give you one or give you two. You can then move on by showing your child a number and ask them to tell you what it is. Then ask them to count out the correct number of objects to match to the number card.
You can use this in everyday life too. If your child has a packet of sweets for example, tell them they can only have 5 sweets and encourage them to count them out.
